The swedish ranger units are so-called special operation forces. They're also specialised in working in small groups behind enemy lines for a long time.
Kustjägarna is the only ranger unit within the swedish navy and is a part of the swedish amphibious corps (marines). Their main task is deep reconnaissance but also sabotage behind enemy lines. Kustjägarna is considered to be the most elite unit in the swedish armed forces. The unit was deployed to many operations during the cold war in the swedish archipelago. There is also a small unit within the unit that has frogmen called attackdykarna. Only a few rangers make it into attackdykarna. During the cold war when there was military service in Sweden about 200 people made it into Kustjägarna each year, but only 12-15 made it into attackdykarna.

Flygbasjägarna is the ranger unit in the swedish air force. They are stationed at the Blekinge Wing flottila in Ronneby. The unit is mainly tasked with personnel recovery missions, similar to the US parajumpers. Flygbasjägarna also does air security in which they patrol both military air bases but civil airports. In some cases they are also conducting reconnaissance missions.

Fallskärmsjägarna is the parachute ranger unit in the swedish army. It is the oldest of the current ranger units in Sweden. Fallskärmsjägarna is stationed at K3 in Karlsborg. The tasks the unit is conducting is similar to Kustjägarna. They are both trained in deep reconnaissance and sabotage. Most people who apply for Fallskärmsjägarna comes from either airborne units or units specialised in reconnaissance. Only a few people make it into the unit every year. Every year both the recruits and the soldiers already serving in the unit need to go through the eagle march which is a march of 60 km with a 30kg combat bag. This is followed by a 10km navigation test. All must be completed under 24 hours.

Arméns jägarbataljon, army's ranger battalion, is the ranger unit specialised in arctic warfare. They're stationed in Arvidsjaur in northern Sweden. Just like Fallskärmsjägarna and Kustjägarna the main task for the battalion is to carry out sabotage and deep reconnaissance. The rangers in the battalion are all trained to be able to use snowmobiles and skiing.
There is also a platoon that is specialised in mountain climbing. This platoon has carried out several search and rescue missions where civilians have either become trapped or gone missing in the mountains of northern Sweden. This when other government agencies are not able to conduct a rescue.
