5 years after the end of XCOM 2, Earth is building a slow peace between what is left of humanity and the aliens that the Elders had enslaved. City 31 was founded as the forefront of this peace, but conspiratorial forces within seek to jeopardize that mission, as the city's Mayor Nightingale is assassinated. Now Chimera Squad must defend the city's populace, uncover who is behind this plot, and work to keep the tentative peace between humanity and the aliens from collapsing.
