Basic Attack and Defence Drill | Namsaknoi Muay Thai

We just had a sparring session this morning, and I wanted to highlight the importance of defence after starting your attack combination with punches.

This is a basic attack and defence drill you can practice on the bag. Always be ready to defend after every attack, and then finish with a counterattack to secure the points.

When you punch, don’t forget to take a step in and bring your whole body closer to target, and not just lean your upper body in. Keep your elbows tucked in when you punch – you waste precious milliseconds telegraphing your action when you flare your elbows out, that your opponent can use to land a kick on your body!
