In this episode: The rewiring of a house whilst it still contains furniture.

A domestic rewire is one of the most destructive tasks you can have a tradesman carry out in your home. It is also in some circumstances essential and should not be overlooked or ignored.

In this circumstance, the house had received a recent unsatisfactory EICR. It was riddled with a mixture of DIY and dated cabling to light fixtures that lacked CPC's. As the customer had only just recently purchased the property they were keen to redecorate. It was strongly advised to rewire prior to redecorating.

There are houses which have been rewired 40+ years ago and the cabling is still standing strong with good Insulation Resistance and continuity values. If a cable manufactured 40+ years ago should last this long, then I would hope to believe that modern cabling should last even longer.
