HARRISBURG, PA: The Crossroads Of Norfolk Southern

Harrisburg is the state capitol of Pennsylvania and a "compact" railfan paradise with rails radiating everywhere such as to Pittsburgh and the west, Baltimore and Hagerstown to the south (via the Port Road and Lurgan Lines) and Reading and Lancaster to the east.

And though not as busy as its east/west routes, the Buffalo line shoots north to Sunbury, Northumberland and Williamsport and the switch at CP Kase connencts Harrisburg and the Buffalo Line to the newly acquired D&H Sunbury and Freight Lines to and from New England.

Also from Reading, trains can go on to Allentown (via the Reading Line), NYC (via the Lehigh Line) and Philadelphia (via ex-Reading Railroad trackage).
TRAINS SHOWN IN THIS VIDEO:

1. Numerous Norfolk Southern coal, intermodal and merchandise trains with some Amtrak.
