The Five Skandhas: A Theory of Perception and Self
A brief talk on Buddhist philosophy. The five skandhas are, in short, a portrait of the human self. They outline the stages of perception: 1. Form, 2. Feeling, 3. Perception, 4. Karmic Formulations, and 5. Consciousness. The gist is that we are "heaps" (or "skandhas") of these fleeting perceptions—a constant stream of experience—and that there is no solid, absolute self to be found anywhere.
