Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Fed Chair Jerome Powell testified before a House committee yesterday, and were asked point blank whether they support another round of stimulus checks.

Fortunately, it seems like everyone still agrees that a second round of $1,200 direct payments are an important stimulus item that must be included in a Phase 4 disaster relief bill.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib asked Mnuchin: “Yes or no, do you believe another stimulus check could help stabilize the economy?”

Mnuchin stated before Congress: "I do. The administration does support another stimulus payment."

He continued: “The president and I remain committed to providing support for American workers and businesses. I believe a targeted package is still needed and the administration is ready to reach a bipartisan agreement.”

Sounds good to me! Since we all agree on another round of $1,200 stimulus checks...how about pressing the GO button and giving us our much needed economic impact payments soon!

Speaking of people that support another round of stimulus checks, Democrats in the House are staying diligent in voicing their support for more $1,200 direct payments.

Rep. Al Green, no not that Al Green, stated during the hearing yesterday: “The economic impact payments must be made because the rent must be paid.”

Green continued: “If we do not do this, we will put persons at risk of being evicted at a time when we are having a pandemic that is still taking lives in this country.”

Rep. Tlaib expressed her thoughts on more stimulus checks, stating: “I think you need to be very clear with the senators … that direct payments to individuals is critical to preventing economic collapse in our country.”

With so much support for another round of $1,200 stimulus checks...what is taking them so long to get these necessary disaster relief funds approved and hitting bank accounts?

Finally, The House of Representatives passed a new stimulus bill yesterday, but it won’t be helping millions of Americans like the CARES Act.

With overwhelming support, the new stimulus bill will fund the government until December 11th and avoid a September 30th shutdown before the election in November.

This stimulus bill also includes $8 billion for nutrition assistance for schoolchildren and families, as well as a renewal of the Pandemic EBT program.

The new stimulus bill will now head to the Senate, where it could be passed as soon as today or tomorrow, with President Trump possibly signing it into law before the weekend.

While I wish it did contain important stimulus items like another round of $1,200 checks and extended enhanced unemployment benefits, hopefully this new government stimulus bill will be the tinder to light the bigger stimulus package fire in the coming days.
