Silent Hill 2 Remake is a survival horror game developed by Bloober Team and published by Konami. Silent Hill 2 Remake is available on October 8, 2024 for PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Windows (PC) with Xbox Series X/S releasing at a later date.

In Silent Hill 2, James Sunderland travels to the eerie town of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his deceased wife, Mary, who claims to be waiting for him in their “special place.” Struggling with grief and confusion, James encounters strange and unsettling characters, including Maria, a woman who resembles Mary but acts differently; Angela, a traumatized young woman; Eddie, a disturbed man slipping into violence; and Laura, a mysterious child who knew Mary. As James delves deeper into the foggy town, he is haunted by monstrous creatures and disturbing visions that reflect his inner guilt and repressed memories. Eventually, he confronts the truth: he euthanized Mary to end her suffering, but suppressed the memory out of shame. The town manifests its punishment through Pyramid Head, a relentless executioner figure. Depending on the player’s choices, the game ends in different ways, ranging from redemption to despair, highlighting the psychological depth of James’s journey and the themes of guilt, loss, and self-forgiveness.

All Endings:

Leave – James accepts Mary's death, forgives himself, and leaves Silent Hill with Laura to start a new life.

In Water – Overwhelmed by guilt, James drives his car into a lake, committing suicide to be with Mary.

Maria – James denies the truth and leaves town with Maria, who begins coughing, hinting that the cycle will repeat.

Rebirth – James gathers occult items and plans to resurrect Mary through a dark ritual.

Dog (joke ending) – James discovers a dog is behind all the events in a control room. Played for laughs.

UFO (joke ending, only in special editions) – James is abducted by aliens, joined by the protagonist from Silent Hill 1.
