The thing is, as Brandan points out, the mother-son relationship can't work unless Angela and Mary resolve their differences first. So, what better better time for Mary and Angela to hash things out than at the gender reveal?

Everything Angela says is spot on. And it's encouraging that Brandan and Mary both agree and look like they're taking her comments to heart. It provides a small glimmer of hope that maybe - just maybe - there might be hope for their relationship after all.
