Halo

Recently I was lucky enough to witness one of the strongest lunar halos I can ever remember seeing. Caused by refracted moonlight off the ice crystals which make up the cirro-stratus clouds way up in the atmosphere, this massive ring of light dominated the night sky. Made all the more impressive with Jupiter and Saturn making an appearance too, was truly amazing to watch.
It was a scenario I wasn't really prepared for, so I checked my gear quickly and got my Sony A7R mounted up on my MSM aligned start tracker using my Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 lens. In my haste I did not set the exposure correctly with it underexposing quite a bit, unfortunately I did not notice until after the 990 frame time lapse sequence had completed. In the meantime I rotated between the Sony 20mm f/1.8 and Mitakon 50mm f/0.95 on my Sony A7S to get some footage of the event. The batteries for my gimbal where completely flat, so you'll have to forgive me for the less than smooth movement.
Anyway, hope you enjoy and feel free to post any question or comments below.
