Viral reproduction places enormous demands on the host cell's biosynthetic and metabolic capabilities. In this lecture we present an integrated description of how virus infection redirects and often compromises normal cell physiology, including metabolism, RNA and protein synthesis, signal transduction pathways, and trafficking systems.
