High pressure die casting of zamak

https:/www.pedeo.be/en/production-process/

The high-pressure die casting cells for zamak form the heart of the high-pressure die casting foundry. Zamak is a zinc alloy and is ideally suited to small parts that are complex in shape, light, thin-walled and have very precise dimensions. The casting process is fully automated.

A vertical plunger injects liquid zamak at approximately 425 degrees Celsius into a steel die at high pressure, directly from the electric melting furnace.

After a few seconds, the zamak has solidified and the die re-opens. An ejector mechanism pushes the casting out of the die.

A robotic arm removes the casting from the mould and presents it to optical sensors. They check that the casting is complete.

The die is sprayed with a release agent after each casting cycle so that the casting will come out of the die easily.

The casting passes through a wind tunnel to cool it down.

Then the casting, injection system and venting system are separated, either manually or by means of a trimming die.

Just like the casting die, the trimming die is specifically designed to deburr and finish the casting for each specific project.

The casting process is now complete, although Pedeo can provide a great many other services such as machining, surface finishing and assembly.

Now that the product is entirely finished, it can be packed and delivered. A strong, high-quality component is ready to fulfil its function within a larger whole.
