Do I need my official transcript to enter my academic information in PTCAS?

Thanks to our Instagram follower for this tip request question, asking if you have to have your own official transcript to complete your academic section in PTCAS.

The answer is no, you do not! Students have access to a free version of their unofficial transcript using their student portal. If you do not know where to locate this, please contact your institution’s registrar’s office.

The only difference between an official and an unofficial transcript is the seal or stamp of approval, whether physical or digital, that ensures that your transcript is a legitimate academic record from that specific institution.

Now let me be clear! You must send one official transcript to PTCAS for each institution you have obtained college credit from. You do not need to use an unofficial transcript to fill out your academic history section in PTCAS.

To summarize, no you do not have to have an official transcript to complete the academic section of PTCAS. Save yourself some money and enter the information using an unofficial transcript. Only pay to have your official transcript sent to PTCAS.
