KATHY'S STORY
Born in Alaska and raised by a gourmet father, Kathy fell in love with the Bay Area while attending San Francisco State. Her love of food fueled her decision to start her own artisan chocolate company in the industrial Dogpatch neighborhood.
An entrepreneur at heart, she knew her product had to be unique in shape, name and packaging. The bittersweet chocolate "tile" was born, served in four perfectly square pieces and wrapped elegantly in a matte blue box. From a young age, Kathy was a bit of a salt fiend, inspiring her signature bittersweet chocolate tiles to be topped with a pinch of gritty sea salt.
Since opening in 2003, Poco Dolce has earned various awards and honors, though none compare to when San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee chose Poco Dolce to represent the 49ers in a Superbowl food basket bet with the Seattle Seahawks. Of all the artisan chocolate companies in the ultra culinary Bay Area, Lee chose Poco Dolce to represent his home team and it touched Kathy's heart.
Filmed in location at 2419 3rd St, San Francisco, California.
