Syntell and Mikel-Claire react to Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Lestat Season 3, Episode 2 — "Toledo." After the chaos of Detroit, Toledo gives us the backstory we needed: where Lestat came from, what he inherited, and what it cost him to become what he is.

The episode spends real time inside Lestat's family before the gift — ten children, a dismissive father, brothers who were worse, and a mother who was the sharpest person in the room and dying of the plague. Lestat killed five wolves alone. He left. He became. And now his maker, his fledgling, his mother — Gabrielle — is touring with him, burning through Toledo, and the two of them together are genuinely unsettling in a way the show is clearly inviting you to sit with. Meanwhile Daniel Molloy shows up and Lestat wastes no time offering to brawl in the alley. The coven infrastructure shows itself — Rashid, and others who've been tracking a problem since 1925, a coven leader named Killer who went by Bruce, and the memory of what he did to Claudia. And then there's the girl who looked like Claudia that Louis can't let go. And the signal that Akasha is stirring.
