Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches (Gromphadorhina portentosa) are endemic to the island of Madagascar. Not only do they help keep the forest clean by recycling (they are detritivores) they have a most excellent way of communicating: hissing!

They don't make the noise how you might expect, most insects make noise by rubbing body limbs (like legs) together, but these cockroaches do something really interesting: via spiracles!
