Slow Stitch Project with Printed Leaves

This video shows how I complete a slow stitch project, incorporating my own lino printed leaf design.

I start by laying out the pieces of fabric, and finding a composition that I like.
Once I'm happy with the layout, I tack all the pieces into place, and using a simple running stitch, I start to stitch along the edges of each piece in rows of one's, two's, or three's. Sometimes I use whip stitch to applique some of the pieces.

When all the pieces are secured in place, I can then remove the tacking stitches and begin to add pieces of lace to add another texture to the piece. These are stab stitched into place.

The printed leaves are then outlined with small running stitches to make them stand out, and finally a few buttons are added to finish off the piece.
I was originally going to frame the piece in an embroidery hoop, but I decided that it looked better in the square frame.
