RCM-400 Turbo on the Dyno and Results! - Part 2 of Nigel's WRX Race Car Re-build
For Part 2 of Nigel's (Unome Racing) WRX Race Car Re-Build, we are going to take an in depth look at all of the changes that were made to his engine and turbo.
The inspiration to start this build was the fact that Nigel had very little useable powerband, in part due to the turbo that he had installed on the car. Picking the RCM-400 turbo was the initial inspiration because of what this turbo had to offer in terms of quick spooling performance, and its ability to make about as much power as the outgoing Tomei turbo.
In the process of working through his engine to put this turbo on and to make sure that he had all of the necessary supporting mods, Nigel also ended up installing new Fuel Rails, Fuel Lines, a new Fuel Pressure Regulator, and he ended up installing slightly smaller injectors that would be a better match for his power target, as well as a 6-speed transmission to better handle the power.
In all this build definitely got a little more involved than we initially planned.
Once all of that was done, we took the car to The Boostcreep to have Harvey put it on the dyno and tune it.
Now that it is all done, there are a couple of small issues to work out with the transmission, but the car is coming together really nicely. And the Roger Clark Motorsport RCM-400 performed better than we had even hoped.
Be sure to Stay Tuned for part 3 when Nigel takes the car out to the track for the first time!
