No Limit to Scientific Realism

This video puts forward the idea that there is no limit to human understanding! Realism in a nutshell realists believe that one truth exists, truth does not change realists believe that truth can be discovered using objective measurements once you find out what the truth is you can generalize it to other situations. The geometrical and mathematical constant pi π is a good example of this type of truth. We have seen the slow progress of scientific understanding over a long period of time. And with the slow built up of information and knowledge at certain periods in history we have seen scientific revolutions or paradigm shifts. Newtonian mechanics the work of M Faraday, Einstein Relativity and quantum mechanics are just a few of these new paradigms. And there is no logical reason why this process will not continue giving us a deeper and more fundamental understanding of our Universe. But today there are those in mainstream physics who believe that this is not so, and that it is beyond us to have what could be called a theory of everything. They say that the problem of conscious perception for example how we account for the subjective experiences arising out of objective physics is too great a problem. Also we have the problem of self reference as in biology with self-replication as a dynamical system that can construct an identical copy of itself. This dynamic process would have to arise or form out of the physics of a physical process. An explanation of this would need the formation of a new theory and many in mainstream physics believe this is not going to happen. Could they be wrong?
