[EN] 'We decided to organise a big meeting, an exquisite banquet, a festive reunion during several days between musicians, friends and lesser known people. It took place in an unusual place - an old Cistercian monastery at the entrance to the Gorges du Verdon. (...) I met Ignacio in Paris, his miraculous first album (in which he invited Ballaké Sissoko, Naïssam Jalal and Vincent Segal, among others) was constantly ringing in my ears and in those of my friends around. But I barely knew Toma Gouband, who was invited last minute on the advice of a precious friend, and who himself accompanied Magic Malik and many other sound magicians. Their meeting was brilliant, as this single shot in the monastery's chapel testifies. [FR] “On avait décidés d’organiser, alors en sortie de pandémie, une grande réunion, un banquet exquis, des retrouvailles festives sur plusieurs jours entre musiciens amis et moins connus. Ça se passait dans un endroit hors du commun - un ancien monastère cistercien à l’entrée des Gorges du Verdon, pendant 5-6 jours. Le principe était simple - se rencontrer, improviser, jouer ensemble sans aucune pression, sans aucun rendu. Un désir de festival de l’intime qui grandissait en nous depuis longtemps. Une vingtaine d’âmes musicales avaient débarquées des quatre coins du pays, chacun(e) au parcours déjà éminemment cosmopolite.

J’avais croisé l’argentin Ignacio à Paris, son premier album miraculeux (il y conviait notamment Ballaké Sissoko, Naïssam Jalal où Vincent Segal - https://ignaciomariagomez.bandcamp.com/album/belesia ) résonnait constamment dans mes oreilles et celles d’amies alentours. Mais je ne connaissais presque pas Toma Gouband, invité de dernière minute sur les conseils d’une amie précieuse, pourtant lui même accompagnateur de Magic Malik et de nombreux autres magiciens des sons.

Leur rencontre fut étincelante, comme cette unique prise en la Chapelle du monastère en témoigne. Deux génies en pleine grâce, virevoltant entre les saints et le vivant, en suspension totale, posant les premiers jalons de rencontres appelées à durer - la seconde édition vient d’avoir lieu, on y croisait Damien Rice, Clara Ysé, Lynn Adib ou encore Casper Clausen - https://www.monasteredesegries.org/la-symphonie-de-segries

Quant à Ignacio, il sera en concert le 26 octobre à Paris au Café de la Danse, entouré de nombreux autres musiciens. A vous de les retrouver.”
