Leon Bailey (born Leon August 9, 1997, Jamaica) is a Jamaican footballer, winger of the German Bayer 04 club and the Jamaican national team.

Leon Bailey spent his childhood in the Cassava area of ​​Pete, which is located in the capital of Jamaica, the city of Kingston. It was in the capital, located on the Caribbean coast, that Leon's career began. Bailey's adoptive father, Craig Butler, sent him to Kingston College Football School, and then to Phoenix All Stars. In 2011, Butler took his adopted son to Europe, with the aim of placing a talented young man in a youth academy. To this end, they traveled to Austria, Holland and Germany, when they finally got to Genk. The Belgian club has almost signed the player, but FIFA intervened, which had very strict rules for signing young players, and given the fact that Bailey was illegally in Europe, the deal did not take place, but Butler took the adopted son in an unknown direction. In 2015, immediately after reaching adulthood, Bailey and his adoptive father returned to Genk. The club management signed his first professional contract with the young player. On August 21, 2015, he made his debut in the Jupile League in a duel against St. Truiden (3: 1), replacing Siba Scrivers in the 62nd minute. On November 21 of that year, he scored the first goal in the championship against Leuven. Bailey scored his debut goal for Genk against Leuven in November 2015. For two seasons in the Belgian club, Bailey held 56 meetings, in which he scored eight goals. At the end of the 2015/16 season, Bailey was recognized as the best player in the Belgian championship, which caused great interest in his person among European clubs.

January 31, 2017 moved to the Bayer 04 football club for € 13.5 million, signing a contract until June 30, 2022. In the second half of the 2016/17 season, the Jamaic played for the “pharmacists" only eight matches in the German championship, where he was noted for one assists. The start of the 2017/18 season turned out to be very successful for Leon, in the first fourteen matches for Bayer he managed to score six goals and give four assists, which attracted the attention of many European grandees. London's Chelsea was seriously interested in the services of the Jamaican, which already offered 25 million euros for the player, but was refused.
