20 Times Luca Copied The Little Mermaid

Disney’s The Little Mermaid has a remarkable amount of similarities to the Pixar film Luca.

Hey TheThings viewers, today we’re diving into the Pixar new movie - Luca! Did it seem like our boy Luca had a similar adventure to a Disney princess? In this video we’ll be covering all the best Luca easter eggs connected to The Little Mermaid.
For starters, Luca and Ariel both have an affinity for life on land and want to make it into the human world. Plenty of time is spent underwater fawning on human artifacts of sneakily spying on the bottom of boats from the sea. They’ve also both got guides whose information isn’t so credible. Scuttle the Seagull helps Ariel learn how to use thingamabobs and dinglehoppers, while Alberto believes he knows the use and name of all sorts of human objects as well. Not to mention Alberto and Ariel both have very impressive collections of human stuff in theri secret hideaways.
Another major aspect that Ariel and Luca share is their parents. King Triton is very strict about the fact that Ariel cannot go near the land since it’s too dangerous for her and she could be harmed by humans. Daniela and Lorenzo, Luca’s parents, are in the same boat, being very stern with their son about how dangerous land could be for them. While they are all stern, we see their care for their children come through and understand that it’s a love for their children that makes them so protective.
As for the outcomes, everything works out for both Ariel and Luca who do indeed end up getting to live their adventures of life on land!
