In 2023, the biggest trend in the fashion industry will be the rise of circular fashion.

Fashion trends play a significant role in overconsumption and the fast fashion industry jump on these trends so quickly, if you blink... you'll miss out and before you know it your clothes are OLD NEWS.

Fast fashion rely on the constant cycle of new styles and trends to drive consumer demand and keep their businesses profitable. The pressure for us to constantly update our wardrobes to stay on trend is driving the overconsumption problem.

We judge others for not being on trend, or if their outfit of choice is out of style, as thought its perceived as not having a strong sense of self identity or not being fashionable - because ultimately keeping up with the latest trend seen as a way to ‘fit in with society’. We’re hardwired to align ourselves with others and in this constant pursuit to enhance our self identity...this is why buying a new trend is incredibly attractive.

Circular economy will surge this year in the fashion industry with predictions to have 23% market share in 2023 ($700 billion USD). This sustainable approach prioritises the use of recycled and upcycled materials, closed-loop production methods, and a focus on reducing waste and environmental impact. There is increasing demand for ethical and eco-friendly fashion choices, and this trend is expected to shape the industry in the upcoming year (Which is AWESOME).

Breaking the cycle of trends is a big part of solving the fashion industry problem.

The fashion industry is one of the largest polluters in the world and IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE, and I believe that it's possible to create a more sustainable and ethical fashion industry.
