Does Your Social Impact Coaching Start In Something You Are Noticing?

What if the place to begin your social impact coaching work is hidden inside something you keep noticing?

In this video, Joy Lawson explores how repeated concerns can point towards a meaningful starting place. Perhaps you keep hearing about exhausted teachers, young people struggling with the move into work, or a local charity team carrying more than they can comfortably manage.

Noticing a need doesn’t mean you fully understand it, and it certainly doesn’t mean coaching is automatically the answer. But it may be worth getting closer, asking better questions and speaking with somebody already involved.

Joy looks at how coaches can explore a possible area of contribution without arriving with a finished programme. The first step may simply be a conversation with a school, charity or community group to understand what’s happening, what support already exists and whether coaching might be useful.

You don’t have to choose the largest problem or create an ambitious project. Sometimes the issue that keeps returning to your attention, particularly one connected to your own experience or relationships, is a sensible place to begin.

Joy Lawson is an AI faculty member and digital educator specialising in social impact coaching.
