Trying to buy the A. Lange & Soehne Odysseus...

One of my Patreon members was recently shopping for the new Lange Odysseus, and was met with the same comment from multiple dealers... the watch is only sold to 'preferred clients' who have a purchase history of at least 25k dollars/euros. You won't be allowed to purchase the Odysseus as your first Lange. What do you think about that? Is Lange missing out on future sales by turning away customers? Is this a good business strategy?
