ഷാപ്പിലെ മീൻ തലക്കറി-shappu meen thala curry (Fish Head curry)
MEEN THALA CURRY/Kallu Shappu Meen Curry
Meen Thala Curry is a famous and traditional recipe from Kerala, India. It is bit spicy and looks colorful but the taste is really awesome.
Its also called as Shappile Meen Curry.
Ingredients :
Fish Head ( King fish ) - 1 kg. ( Cut into medium size pieces )
Oil 3 tbsp+1 tsp+1/2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds(uluva) 1/2 tsp
Onion(Sawla) 1
Green Chili 5
Ginger medium size
Turmeric Powder 1 tsp
Slat as required
pot tamarind(kudam Puli) 6
Garlic 8
Chilly powder 4 tbsp
Kashmiri chili powder 1 tbsp
Coriander Powder 1 tsp
Water as required
Curry leaf 5 stem
Tomato 1
Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
How to make Meen Thala Curry – Fish Head Curry :
1. Wash the fish head well and keep aside.
2. Heat Oil in a pot,splutter fenugreek seeds and add onion, curry leaves, garlic, green chilly, ginger, turmeric powder, salt and pot tamarind.
3. Saute till onion turns brown. Then add chili powder, kashmiri chili powder & coriander saute till raw smell goes from the masala powder.
4. Now add water and salt and keep it for boiling.When it starts to boil , add cleaned fish head into the pot and mix well.
5. Add Curry leave and 1 tsp oil, cook the fish pieces on medium flame.
6. Add tomato to the half cooked fish, now Cover cook the fish.
7. Add pepper powder to the fully cooked fish, now again cook it for 5 min in low flame.
8. Cook till the gravy starts to get thick.
9. When the gravy turns thick,turn off flame.
10.Serve hot or cool with Kappa, Kerala porata, Puttu Or boiled rice. Enjoy
