ipad bare screen vs paperlike matte screen protector comparison
hello friends!
I have received many follow up questions after I posted a review on paperlike 2. and before changing to a new sheet of paperlike, i thought it'd be interesting to see the comparison between the ipad pro bare screen and the screen with a matte screen protector. So i cut the paperlike in half and used my ipad 1/2 bare screen, 1/2 paperlike 2 for a couple of days. Please note that the paperlike in this video is well used and therefore could display a bigger difference.
The main questions that I wanted to address in this video was:
- light comparison / light distortion
- screen display quality
- coloured pixel dots/rainbow dots on the matte protector
- writing & drawing comparison
And here are my personal thoughts:
- light comparison / light distortion
the bare screen is slightly brighter and depending on the angels, the side with the matte protector looked a little foggy.
- screen display quality
while the matte protector side display is pretty clean, the images on the bare screen are more crispy.
- coloured pixel dots/rainbow dots on the matte protector
visible on bright/ light coloured backgrounds.
- writing & drawing comparison
while writing/drawing on the bare screen is quieter, it had kind of a jelly feeling writing on it (haha don't know how to explain better) I find it easier and more pleasant to draw and write on the matte screen.
At the end, i think having a matte screen protector is a great solution for a better control over your writing and drawing. I decided to attach the matte screen protector again despite the difference in the screen quality, because 1) fingerprints on the bare screen are quite bothering me, 2) i find it nicer to draw on the matte screen protector 3) a little afraid of making scratches on the original screen.
this little experiment was quite interesting and fun to do and hopefully you also enjoyed and found it helpful!
please feel free to share your thoughts! :)

//Q
why do you hold pencils like that?
- I naturally hold pens like this. It's not the best way to hold in fact, because you put more pressure when writing and hand gets tired faster. I tried to change to the ‘proper way' but I'm so used to holding like this. oh well. no. I don't have a disability on my hand.
what tools do you use to film?
- all filmed by my iphone 11 and edited on ipad using VLLO
