The best way to buy a stock is to choose the limit order. You buy the stock by the ask. The limit order gives you the best fill,
because you will get that price or lower at the moment of submitting the order.
For selling you should use the stop order, because you want to exit quickly. The stop order guarantee you to exit the trade with any available price. If you get mistaken, and put limit order, sometimes your order is not filled and there is no guarantee
that it should be filled. So don't call your broker asking, because he will tell you the same explanation. but if you find something you don't understand or you had a bad fill, at that time call your broker and ask details. Most brokers are polite and have good customer service. If not satisfied, ask the manager in duty to explain more to you.
