Crews on scene of car crash, apartment explosion in Cleveland's Mount Pleasant neighborhood

Police and fire officials are on the scene of a car crash an apartment building explosion that took place on Cleveland's east side Sunday night.

Authorities tell 3News the incident occurred near the 3400 block of East 139th Street in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood. Around 8 p.m., crews received a report of a car that had crashed into a house, and not long after firefighters arrived the apartment building next to the home exploded.

First responders have since managed to extinguish the flames. While no injuries have been reported at this time, members of the Cleveland Division of Fire are searching the rubble to make sure everyone is accounted for.

The cause of the explosion has not been confirmed, nor have officials indicated why the car crashed in the first place.
