Landover, Maryland, USA - 1985 World Professional Figure Skating Championships - These championships is one of Dick Button's creations, providing skaters who have retired from amateur (aka Olympic eligible) competition an opportunity to compete and earn a cash prize for participation. This was an invitation-only event, and many felt that it was an honor to be invited as the event was usually only limited to four skaters per discipline to compete. Commentators were Bill Macatee, JoJo Starbuck and Dorothy Lucey. Skaters in the order shown were:
