Washing produce for juicing is important to remove dirt, pesticides, and bacteria

Washing produce for juicing is important to remove dirt, pesticides, and bacteria. Using baking soda and vinegar can be an effective method. Here’s how:
Materials Needed

• Baking soda
• White vinegar
• Water
• A large bowl or basin
• A colander
• A clean cloth or paper towels

Steps

1. Prepare the Baking Soda Solution:
• Fill a large bowl or basin with cold water.
• Add 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda. Stir until the baking soda dissolves. If desired, use a separate vinegar solution later.
2. Soak the Produce:
• Place the fruits and vegetables in the baking soda solution.
• Let them soak for 10-15 minutes. Baking soda helps to remove dirt, wax, and some pesticides.
3. Rinse with Vinegar Solution (Optional):
• For additional cleaning, especially for leafy greens and porous produce, you can use a vinegar solution.
• Mix 1 part white vinegar with 3 parts water in a bowl or spray bottle.
• If using a bowl, submerge the produce and let it sit for a few minutes. If using a spray bottle, spray the produce thoroughly.
4. Rinse with Cold Water:
• After soaking, thoroughly rinse the produce under cold running water. This helps to remove any remaining residues from the baking soda and vinegar solutions.
5. Dry the Produce:
• Place the produce in a colander to drain excess water.
• Pat them dry with a clean cloth or paper towels.
6. Ready for Juicing:
• Your produce is now clean and ready for juicing!
