How to divide the abdominal cavity:
- First, divide horizontally, upper horizontal plane (Subcostal Plane) and lower horizontal plane (interspinal plane)
- Then, Divide different levels. Upper level above Distantia Costarum, Middle level under distantia costarum and distantia interspinosa. Lower level under the distantia interspinosa.
- Vertical lines along the rectus abdominis muscle.
Uper level: Epigastric region in middle, Right/Left Hypochondriac region.
Middle region: Umbilical region, Right and left lateral regions
Lower region: Pubical region, Right and left inguinal regions.
Holotopy (Holotopia): Stomach Lies in Epigastric and right hypochondriac region.
Gaster (Stomach):
Between Oesophagus (Ostium Cardiacum) and small intestine (Ostium Pyloricum)
Syntopy (Syntopia):
Anterior: anterior abdominal wall, diaphragm and liver.
Posterior: Close to left Kidney, Spleen, Pancreas and Transverse Colon.
Lesser curvature has Incisura Angularis
Greater curvature has Incisura Cardialis
Portions of the stomach:
- Cardiac Part
- Fundus
- Body of gaster
- Pyloric region (Pyloric Antrum and Pyloric Canal)
Walls of the Stomach:
- Tunica MucosaForms Plica Gastricae.Area Gastricae (lines by simple columnar epithelia)Small Pits (Foveolare Gastricae) which has Gastric Glands which is mostly in Fundus and Body of gaster. Lamina Muscularis Mucosae
- Tela Submucosacontains loose CT
- Tunica Muscularis 3 muscle layersInner layer: Oblique muscle layerMiddle layer: Circular muscle fibers, forms sphinter calles Pyloric Sphinter muscleOuter layer: Longitudinal muscle layer
- Tunica Serosa: Formed by peritoneum, slippery surface
