Ian Rafalko: Acting on your beliefs to hurt others
Ian said:
“(When) ‘enlightened’ by Scientology, the certainty you were expected to have is literally life or death, like your eternity and every future lifetime after you die is based on how confident you are about L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology and how much you act upon his teachings, his bullshit, really. Because it is not about what you believe. It’s about what you do to actuate upon your beliefs, and I’ve always thought that. And when I was in Scientology I hadn’t really seen enough of it to understand that it was as bad as it is, but when I dove deeper and I committed myself more, I saw that I was hurting people.
…When I was in Atlanta Org and I was being pressured to force one of our new staff members to eat during Ramadan because you have to eat to go into session, I felt bad. Although I don’t participate in Ramadan myself, who am I to force this guy, you know? So I felt it within myself that I’m impacting people negatively. That’s just one example. He’s not in Scientology, by the way. That kid, he left. Good. As he should have.”
