Hostile Combat / Evacuation Scenario, Tiger gives backup, fast roping from NH90 ILA #military #army
The Eurocopter EC665 Tiger, is a four-blade, twin-engine attack helicopter which first entered service in 2003. It is manufactured by Airbus Helicopters, formerly Eurocopter, which arose from the merger of Aérospatiale's and DASA's respective helicopter divisions. Airbus Helicopters designates it as the EC665. In France and Spain, the helicopter is known as the Tigre (which is French and Spanish for Tiger), while in Germany and Australia it is referred to as the Tiger. An earlier name for the French HAP close air support (CAS) version was Gerfaut ("Gyrfalcon"), which was dropped in 1993.
The NHIndustries NH90 is a medium-sized European twin-engine multi-role military helicopter. It was the first production helicopter to feature entirely fly-by-wire flight controls. It makes extensive use of composite materials and electronic sensors. The helicopter has two primary models: the Tactical Transport Helicopter (TTH), oriented towards land applications (able to carry up to 20 troops); and the NATO Frigate Helicopter (NFH), oriented towards naval use in contexts such as anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and search and rescue (SAR) operations. Over 600 units have been produced for over a dozen NATO countries as of early 2026, and the model remains in production.
The CH-53 Sea Stallion (Sikorsky S-65) is a family of American heavy-lift transport helicopters designed and built by the American manufacturer Sikorsky Aircraft. The Sea Stallion was developed in response to a March 1962 request from the United States Navy's Bureau of Naval Weapons for a replacement for the Sikorsky CH-37 Mojave helicopters flown by the United States Marine Corps (USMC).
Counterinsurgency (COIN, or NATO spelling counter-insurgency) is "the totality of actions aimed at defeating irregular forces". The Oxford English Dictionary defines counterinsurgency as any "military or political action taken against the activities of guerrillas or revolutionaries" and can be considered war by a state against a non-state adversary. Insurgency and counterinsurgency campaigns have been waged since ancient history. Western thought on fighting 'small wars' gained interest during initial periods of European colonisation,[5] while modern thinking on counterinsurgency was developed during decolonization.
Fast-roping is a technique for descending a thick rope, allowing troops to deploy from a helicopter in places where the aircraft cannot touch down.
The person holds onto the rope with gloved hands (with or without using their feet) and slides down it. Several people can slide down the same rope simultaneously, provided that there is a gap of about 3 metres (10 ft) between them, so that each one has time to get out of the way when they reach the ground.
