"The Lazarus Syndrome" is a 1979 American made-for-television drama thriller directed by Jerry Thorpe. The story follows an adulterous newspaper reporter who, after experiencing a heart attack, persuades a doctor to investigate questionable medical practices at the hospital where both are residing. ​

Jerry Thorpe, born Richard Jerome Thorpe on August 29, 1926, in Los Angeles, California, was an American producer and director. He was the son of director Richard Thorpe. Throughout his career, Jerry Thorpe directed several films and television movies, including "The Venetian Affair" (1967), "Day of the Evil Gun" (1968), and "The Lazarus Syndrome" (1979). He also produced and directed various television series. Jerry Thorpe passed away on September 25, 2018, in Santa Barbara, California. ​
