Ennio Morricone! 1928-2020 Musical Tribute to the King of Movie Soundtracks! A WORD ON WESTERNS

Legendary film composer Ennio Morricone has died at the age of 91. The Academy Award winning composer (winner for Quentin Tarantino's "Hateful Eight" 2015) became Internationally revered following his successful collaboration with Sergio Leone on the director's first western, "A Fistfull of Dollars" (1964). Born in Rome to a trumpet playing father, young Ennio first met Leone when he was 8 years old and they were attending the same elementary school. One of the most prolific composers in film history, with over 500 films to his credit, the Maestro, as he was known, worked in every genre imaginable and garnered multiple Oscar nominations and awards for his diverse and memorable scores, including "Days of Heaven" (1978), "The Mission" (1986), "The Untouchables" (1987), "Bugsy" (1991) and "Malena" (2000). Morricone also received an honorary Oscar in 2007 that was presented to him by Clint Eastwood. On November 22, 2015, Henry and Nancy Stanny hosted an evening of Morricone's music performed live at their home in tribute to the Maestro. The night was so successful, it was repeated in two sold out performances at the Autry Museum. Everyone left whistling and humming those still unforgettable tunes. Ennio is conducting the angels now. Rest in Peace.
Ennio Morricone (Nov 10, 1928 - July 6, 2020).
