Top Tip Tuesday - Chocolate Set

This week’s Top Tip Tuesday looks good enough to eat as we create molten chocolate that drips and gradually sets on a block of ice cream.

Starting with nxFluids in APIC mode, we generate an accurate, folding, viscous fluid before using nxQuestion and nxBlend in Addition mode to set up a particle color animation. After defining which particles are molten liquid and which have hardened on the ice cream, the nxMesher with Mean Curvature smoothing is added to finish the simulation.

To bring the chocolate to life, we jump in to Redshift, adding our prebuilt chocolate material and driving reflection roughness using our already set up particle color. Great for product shots and VFX, this is a simple set up with a delicious result.
