The Black Shouldered Kite is famously known for its habit of hovering over open grasslands in a manner that resembles that of Kesterels. The species is predominantly found in the open habitats and semi-deserts of sub-Saharan Africa and tropical Asia. Additionally, small populations of this raptor are found in Spain and Portugal.
