--------------------

You hear Stephen D. Smith playing the Midmer-Losh organ of the Atlantic City Convention Hall (now called: Boardwalk Hall) Main Auditorium. It's the largest pipe organ of the world, holding several records: most pipes (around 33000), loudest organ stop due to the highest wind pressure (up to 100'' for several stops), largest organ console in action (7 manuals), most 32' stops (9), the only real 42 2/3' stop (Diaphone-Dulzian quint) and a 64' stop (Diaphone-Dulzian) - one of only two real 64' stops in the world. Just listen to the wall shattering pedal sound of the last few bars (from 1:53 on). Be aware that this sound is unique in the world!

The organ needs restoration since it is not fully functioning (for some time even unplayable!), as you may also hear in this clip. For that reason the Atlantic City Convention Hall Organ Society was founded to make basic maintenance works possible.
In the meantime, the ACCHOS has been dissolved (cf. homepage for further information) and it's funds were transferred to the Historic Organs Restoration Committee (HORC). The new homepage is http://www.boardwalkpipes.com/ .

### Please visit their website http://www.acchos.org/ / http://www.boardwalkpipes.com/ and maybe support them. ###

Further information on the organ itself (as well as CDs and DVDs) can be found on that homepages.

This sample is an extract of an Audio CD which can be found on the ACCHOS/BoardwalkPipes website. It shows the organ and its condition around 15 years ago, back in 1998. You may also find a Mercury CD with the organ in a notable better condition (rec. 1956).
Note: I have got nothing to do with the organ society. I just want to spread information on the existence of this unique instrument. Maybe one day it will be entirely functioning again.
