Build a Car | Body Mating the 1972 Karmann Ghia #karmannghia #ghia #bodymating

Here's the walk-around to see what's going on in the shop this week.
The big event as we build a car - any car, but in this case, the 1972 Karmann Ghia we're doing a partial restoration on - is body mating.

You'll see five of the guys verrrrrry carefully donning gloves and carrying the Ghia body over to its newly restored pan/chassis. Spook's on spotting duty. When it's in the right place, they drop that sucker. Just kidding - it's gently laid down upon its nest like a baby bird egg. Then the guys will bolt it down and roll it over to the lift for the next stage of the build a car process.

Alex (AKA New Guy) is persuading Gazzo's Ghia's headlight into place. Shannon's doing engine stuff to that same Ghia (check out the Porsche-inspired deck lid). Darren (AKA Even Newer Guy) is getting Fetterman's splitty's windows sorted. Rodney's finalizing the pre-set of body panels on the Zwitter before it gets Australian trim.
