DRUM COVER - Georgy Porgy by Toto

This is a classic Toto tune that Jeff Porcaro made his own through his signature single handed 16th note groove. It has really taken me some time to develop not just the speed in order to play the groove at this tempo, but then the ability to make it feel so relaxed and comfortable as it is very easy to let the right hand tense up on the hi hat. Todd Sucherman describes it as the shank tip, where the right hand "shanks" in on the beats and upbeats and then just "tips" the top of the cymbal on the e's and uh's. Other than the groove itself, the rest of the song is rather simple with some nice fills, and a bass drum pattern that alters to compliment the bass part sometimes. It's definitely a song to work on for those trying to achieve a nice consistent hi hat sound no matter how fast or slow a song might be!
