চিরকালই বাবা মায়ের বাধ্য ভালো মেয়ে সানন্দা। বিয়ের পর স্বামী সূর্যর সঙ্গে কলকাতার চেনা পৃথিবী ছেড়ে সে পাড়ি দিলো আন্দোলনের জল-জঙ্গলের জগতে। সংসারে মুখ বুজে থাকাই নিয়ম, এই মেনে নিয়ে সূর্যর সমস্ত দুর্ব্যবহার সহ্য করতে সানন্দা, কিন্তু এসবের মাঝে কোথাও যেন মুক্তি পাওয়ার গোপন ইচ্ছের আগুন ছিল ছাইচাপা। সেই আগুনে ঘি ঢালার কাজটাই করেছিল প্রতীক, আন্দামানে সানন্দা প্রথম এবং একমাত্র বন্ধু। প্রতীকের সঙ্গেই ডানা মেলতে শিখল সানন্দা; একে একে গল্পে এসে জুড়ল প্রেম ভালবাসা সম্পর্ক। কিন্তু তারপর? সূর্য জেনে গেলে কী হবে? সানন্দা কি নিজেকে ক্ষমা করতে পারবে কখনও? ভালবাসা কি পরিণতি পাবে কখনও নাকি চিরকাল অবৈধতার কলঙ্ক ঘিরে থাকবে ওদের? এই সমস্ত পারস্পরিক ওঠাপড়া নিয়েই তৈরি ফসফরাসের জগৎ, যেখানে শত আঁধারেও আলো দেখায় ভালবাসা।

Sananda, the perfect daughter, left her safe world for the wild Andaman Islands when she married Surya. She quietly submitted to her husband's cruelty, believing silence was her duty.
