It’s gimjang season these days! You can’t leave out suyuk for gimjang!
Today, we’re making sukyuk with pork belly! 🥩
It’s cost-effective, plus, I’ll show you how to overcome the dryness!
📝 Ingredients
📌 [수육 재료 Suyuk]
- Pork belly 1kg
- 2 Green onion
- 1 Onion
- 1 Garlic (cup)
- 1 Whole black pepper (ts)
- 1 Soybean paste (Ts)
- 2 Bay leaf
- 2 Soju (cup)
- Instant coffee 20g
🍳 How to Cook
1. Rinse the completely pork belly in water and press with hands to remove blood.
2. Clean the onion and removing the skin.
3. Clean the spring onion and prepare the green part long as a whole.
4. For garlic, remove the tip part and wash it thoroughly.
5. Put pork, onion, spring onion, and garlic in a pot, and add traditional-style doenjang, instant coffee and bay leaves.
6. Among the prepared amount of water, add 1L first and boil on high heat.
Tip: Depending on the pot size, add an adequate amount first that will not overflow when it comes to a boil.
7. Put the lid and boil on high heat for 10 minutes.
8. Afterward, simmer with the lid closed on medium heat for 15 minutes.
9. Finally, let it simmer for 5 minutes without opening the lid.
8. After, carefully take out the pork belly slices.
9. Let the delicious meat pieces rest for 5-10 min. Then slice it as thin as you can.
Serve with some fresh kimchi on the side!

- 1 Cabbage
- Chives
- 1/2 Red pepper powder (cup)
- 1/3 Fish sauce (cup)
- 2 Plum syrup (Ts)
- 2 Salted shrimp (Ts)
- 2 Sugar (Ts)
- 1 Miced garlic (Ts)
- 1/2 Miced ginger (ts)
🍳 How to Cook
1. Clean the cabbage and removing the leaves
2. Cut the cabbage and chives into bite-sized pieces
3. Put cabbage and chives in a large bowl and add red pepper powder
4. Add fish sauce, plum syrup, and shrimp sauce
5. Add sugar, minced garlic and minced ginger in a bowl
6. Mix the sauce evenly and it's done~!
