In a shocking incident, Amir Tanba, who was involved in the assassination of an Indian spy in Lahore, was himself killed. On Sunday, unidentified assailants entered Amir Tanba’s house in the Islam Pura area of Lahore and opened fire, leaving him severely wounded. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries. This event has once again raised suspicions of India’s involvement in such incidents in Pakistan. Notably, Amir Tanba was previously linked to the 2013 murder of Indian spy Sarabjit Singh in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore. Sarabjit Singh, who had been accused of espionage and terrorist activities in Pakistan since 1990, was brutally attacked by fellow inmates and eventually died. While the case against Amir Tanba and his accomplice Mudassar Munir was initially filed, the Lahore local court acquitted them in 2018 due to lack of evidence. The incident involving Sarabjit Singh had strained India-Pakistan relations, and now, with this recent event, Amir Tanba’s brother, Junaid Sarfaraz, claims that Amir was present at their home during the attack. Investigations are ongoing, and the situation remains tense.
