South Rwenzori Diocese appeals to government

Bishop Nason Baluku of South Rwenzori Diocese has appealed to the government, through the Ministry of Health, to reinstate the specialists, doctors, nurses, and other health workers who were withdrawn from the sub-region’s 10 diocesan health facilities. The withdrawal, carried out four years ago by the Kasese district local government, was justified at the time as part of implementing a government policy. Bishop Baluku made the appeal during a fundraising dinner in Kampala, organised to raise funds for the purchase and installation of an X-ray machine at Rwesande Health Centre IV in Kasese District. He noted that the absence of this crucial equipment forces patients requiring biological diagnostics to travel over 96 km to Buhinga Regional Referral Hospital in Fort Portal, causing unnecessary hardship.
