How to start a Box stitch lanyard-with 3 Different Options(including pictures)
The stitch I'm showing in this video is for making a box lanyard, or you can also make a barrel lanyard with it.
This tutorial shows how to start the box/barrel stitch lanyard (others call it a square stitch). It includes 3 different options to starting a box/square (barrel/circle) stitch.some people call lanyards names such as scoubidous , boondoggle, gimp ,craft lace , and even key-chains (in my opinion key-chains is really not related since gimp can be used for many things).
to see another similar version of the third option click here:

The first option that I demonstrated is probably the most easiest way to do the square/circle stitch, it involves a piece of cardboard and some sharp pointy objects (it is best to use some toothpicks).
the main idea is to pinch 4 holes in the cardboard and then taking the 2 strings that needed to make the box stitch, and inserting them threw these holes. Then you just weaving in i similar way we as the next 2 options (crossing 3 strings in-between 2 different color string, and the last side we cross "over and under").
starting the box stitch in the second option is the most popular on the internet , it involves one finger .I've used my right hand finger, it doesn't matter if you are right handed or lefty for example i'm left handed but it very easy for me to use any hand.
starting a circle/box stitch on my 3rd option is what I use the most (it also boondoggleman's way to do it) it's a non support way to start the box stitch. As today for me it's the easiest and the fastest, but most people (including me) won't get it in the first few tries. But i do very recommend this option if you already mastered the 2 previous options!
stay tuned for more video like that!
