Bagawire | Steve Overland | Tony Remy | 2 Seas Sessions #music #bahrain #2seas #steveoverland

After recently working together in the hugely successful supergroup, “The STAKS Band”, vocalist Steve Overland (FM, Overland, Lone Rider) and guitarist Tony Remy (Annie Lennox, Jack Bruce, Mick Hucknall), had an idea to pull on their shared love of soulful, yet innovative music and experiment in writing songs in a similar vein.

It very quickly became obvious that this collaboration was a real opportunity to bring a unique and exciting style of music to audiences everywhere, heavily influenced by the eclectic mix of Overland’s soulful, blues rock inspired vocals and Remy’s jazz fusion enriched guitar style.

The writing process seemed to flow effortlessly and before long, “Bagawire” was created.

Both Steve and Tony have had hugely successful careers to date. Performing to sell-out crowds all over the world alongside some of the biggest names in music history. A brief synopsis of the pair follows:

Steve Overland
At a young age in his hometown in Norfolk UK, Steve Overland learned his trade in local bands with his guitarist elder brother, and the pair were eventually scouted and picked out by the legendary Adam Faith and whisked away to London to pursue their careers. Before long, their first band, “Wildlife” was formed, later featuring legendary drummer Simon Kirke, and subsequently signed to Swansong Records, releasing two albums in the early 1980’s. During this time, Steve wrote and recorded the song “Shot In The Dark”, which, although never released, became the Blueprint for Ozzy Osbourne’s track of the same name.

Following the closure of Swansong Records, Wildlife disbanded and Steve met and began to work with the fellow musicians that ultimately went on to become his long-term band, “FM”.

After wowing record company executives with a handful of demo tracks, FM released their first album “Indiscreet” on the Portrait (CBS) label in 1986, successfully acting as a springboard to move the band to tour with huge acts such as Bon Jovi, Reo Speedwagon, Tina Turner, Meatloaf, Foreigner, Journey and many more.

The second FM Album “Tough It Out” saw Steve working closely with songwriter Desmond Child, best known for his work on Bon Jovi’s multi-platinum album “Slippery When Wet”. This period saw the band reach the UK and international charts with the singles “Frozen Heart”, “Bad Luck” and “Let Love Be The Leader”.

In 2007, FM were asked to re-form for a one-off show in Nottingham UK. The response from the audience was so overwhelming that Steve and the band decided to continue where they’d left off, writing and releasing the 2010 album “Metropolis”, followed by “Rockville” and “Rockville II” (2013), “Heroes and Villains” (2015), “Indiscreet 30” (2016), “Atomic Generation” (2018) and most recently “Synchronized” (2020).

Known simply as “The Voice” in industry circles, Steve Overland is regularly heralded as one of the finest singers to have ever come out of the UK.

Tony Remy
TONY REMY is one of the world's most exciting guitar players of any genre. His hard-edged rhythmically driven approach is enriched with jazz intuition and bluesy soul. His ability to adapt to any style of music sets him apart from many other guitarists and is the principle reason why Tony’s name is consistently near the top of the ‘must have’ list for artists such as Annie Lennox, Jack Bruce, Pee Wee Ellis, Mick Hucknall, Glenn Hughes, Craig David, and more
Tony released his first solo album, "BOOF" in 1993 on the American Jazz-Fusion label GRP, home to the cream of Jazz artists and THE label to go to at the time. The album received excellent reviews and established Tony Remy as one of THE names to watch. Jazz radio fell in love with the sheer variety of tracks to draw upon, whilst Tony’s touring schedule really began to take him to the next level.

In 1997 Tony decided to release his second album "METAMORFOLLOW-G" on his own recently created label, Alltone Records. Tony's playing stretched out even further and allowed his ideas to draw upon many of the different guitar styles which influenced him as a youngster. Guitarists such as John Scofield, Hiram Bullock, Mike Stern, George Benson, Jimi Hendrix and BB King all contributed in shaping Tony’s playing, before he began to develop his own unique style.

In 1998, Tony was asked to play on Simply Red’s 1998 album, ‘BLUE’, and followed this up with several live performances for their world tour.
After being a part of the Incognito alumni on the 2005 album, ‘ELEVEN’, which contained co-written songs from Tony; then the 2006 album, ‘BEES + THINGS + FLOWERS’, he and co-founder of Incognito, Jean-Paul ‘Bluey’ Maunick, decided to collaborate on the 2007 album
