We took to the studio armed with a matched pair of Soyuz 013 pencil condensers, as well as Soyuz' flagship large diaphragm condenser; the 017 Tube.

Minimal processing was applied afterwards, including some subtle EQ and compression. Fortunately, the natural response of the Soyuz is very well balanced, so minimal DSP was necessary. The purpose here is to showcase the mic's inherent sonic characteristics.

It's worth mentioning that while we set the U67 up as a back-up, the audio chosen for the final recording was that of the Soyuz 017 Tube. The two mic were astonishingly similar to our ears - both tonally and response-wise - which, considering how beautifully the vintage U67 performs is a remarkable achievement in its own right.
