Finding Geodes in an Abandoned Gold Mine
Deep in the back of the Abandoned Lennox Mine early 20th century gold miners blasted into a rich quartz vein in search of ore. What they uncovered was unusual for the pacific northwest and mines in general - a vein rich in small geodes and terminal quartz crystals among other minerals. The vein is also rich in pyrite, sulfur, and an unknown crystal deposit on top of terminal quartz crystals in certain parts of the vein. More to come next week when we revisit the mine to determine the composition of the secondary deposits.
