Interactive C++: Meet Jupyter / Cling - Neil Horlock [ACCU 2019]
#Jupyter #C++ #AccuConf
Jupyter notebooks have rapidly become the de facto way to share data science projects on portals such as Kaggle. Jupyter is a great rich media prototyping and experimenting platform for Python and R but many people don’t realise that you can use it for far more.
This talk will be predominantly live demo and some limited slide presentation, introducing Jupyter notebooks, and the background to their more common use cases before finally diving into the Jupyter/Cling C++ interpreter to explore some of the impressive prototyping and exploratory potential of this powerful combination.
We will briefly look at the pre-requisites, and installation, some lightweight guidance on the Jupyter interface and then drop into some demonstrations

Neil has 20+ years in financial services most of it spent in C++ of some description (not always good); working in a variety of roles from low latency/high-frequency trading systems to information security and architecture. He is currently working as an independent consultant and speaker and has run training courses and is a contributing analyst for the Tabb Group where he is typically engaged for FinTech company analysis and more obscure technical subjects such as Quantum Computing. Neil is a member of the ISO and BSI C++ panels.
Outside of work, Neil is an active STEM Ambassador, and currently runs two code clubs, one at a local school and another as part of the Kent County Libraries Digital Dens initiative to bring STEM skills into deprived communities.
